Our range of Gillenia, also named bowman's root, delicate and elegant perennials for the garden. Gillenia trifoliata, the most well-known, stands out with its white, light and airy star-shaped flowers, which beautifully contrast with its finely cut leaves. There is a rarer pink variety of three-leaved gillenia called 'Pink Profusion'. Gillenia stipulata has similar flowers but with reddish stems. These plants are perfect for brightening up partially shaded areas of the garden with their delicate flowering from May to July.
The Gillenia genus belongs to the Rosaceae family and is native to wooded regions in the eastern United States. Comprising only two species, this genus is characterised by slender and branched stems, trifoliate leaves, and delicate flowers, often white or slightly pink. Gillenias are valued for their light and graceful habit, as well as for their foliage that takes on beautiful hues in autumn.
Easy to grow, Gillenia prefers moist, well-drained soil and a partially shaded or sunny, non-scorching exposure. Water regularly in summer to maintain their freshness.
