Our selection of Lachenalia, nicknamed Cape Cowslips. These original and colorful bulbous plants, resembling hyacinths, are native to South Africa. They will delight gardeners in search of exoticism. We love them for their early flowering, which brightens up the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

The Lachenalia 'Rupert' adorns itself with magnificent mauve and pink flowers, perfect for enlivening borders or containers. The Lachenalia 'Rosabeth', on the other hand, charms with its red flowers tipped with green on spotted leaves. As for the Lachenalia 'African Beauty Namakwa', its flowers are bicolored, in yellow and purple.

The Lachenalia genus includes around 110 species of bulbs native to South Africa. These plants, belonging to the Asparagaceae family, are early-flowering and produce tubular or bell-shaped flowers, often fragrant, borne on short stems above fleshy leaves sometimes adorned with spots or stripes.

Suited to Mediterranean climates, Lachenalia prefer well-drained soils, even dry in summer, bright exposures, and mild winters. Grown in the ground in coastal gardens or in pots in colder areas, they require little maintenance, apart from moderate watering.

You'll adore them!
