Kolwitzia or the Beauty Bush is a hardy shrub with deciduous foliage. In May and June, its arching branches are covered with an abundance of white or pink bell-shaped flowers with a yellow throat. Kolwitzia is grown in borders or as a specimen plant in rich, well-drained soil, even in limestone, in full sun or partial shade. The 'Maradco' variety is notable for its bright yellow foliage.
