Beautiful young plant that is already settling in quickly among the other heuchera colours. Incredibly robust plants that dress up shady areas with flair.

Planting and care

Heuchera americana ‘Dale’s Strain’ is planted in spring or early autumn, in partial shade or light shade. A position receiving morning sun is favourable to it, but afternoon sun does not suit it. It grows in humus-bearing, moist but well-drained, acid to neutral soil. The collar is placed at soil level, without being buried, and the young plants are spaced 40 to 50 cm apart. Regular watering is beneficial during the first year; afterwards, this heuchera tolerates short dry spells in shade. A mulch of dead leaves or mature compost maintains humus and limits drying out. As the stump tends to rise over the years, the clump is divided and replanted every three or four years, keeping its collar just at soil level.
