Description

The Asarum canadense is a perennial ground cover that is cold resistant and remains decorative in winter.

Originating from Canada, this small ground-hugging plant forms clumps of evergreen leaves, with a lovely dark green color. The curious brown-red flowers are always hidden beneath the foliage. Easy to grow, the Asarum canadense is a shade plant, suitable for moist to wet soil, rich in humus and always well-drained.

Plant it at the edge of woodland or in a cool rockery, alongside epimediums, hostas, Hakone grass, or heucheras.
