The apple tree (Malus domestica) is a native tree in Europe, particularly in France where its presence has been attested since antiquity. Columnar apple trees are selected for their vertical growth, reduced to only their trunk, not exceeding 3m (10ft) in height and 1m (3ft) in width, and without scaffold branches. The fruits of 'Rondo' and 'Rhapsodie' do not store very well, but they can be kept until December if you find them a suitable place: a cool and well-ventilated room where you can store them on shelves or in crates.
