Description

Brunnera macrophylla Emerald Mist or Great Forget-Me-Not is a spreading and highly decorative groundcover with its light foliage widely marbled with silver, forming a dense carpet covered by small blue flowers in spring.

Also known as Siberian Bugloss, this hardy perennial, with a low rhizomatous habit, reaches a height of 40 cm (16in) and has a spreading and dense habit. It produces deciduous 15cm (6in) wide heart-shaped leaves, pale green marbled with silver on the edges. In May, delicate pure blue flowers grouped in panicles appear throughout spring.

Originally from the forests of Eastern Europe and Northwest Asia, Brunnera macrophylla Emerald Mist thrives in a humus-rich, light, moist, well-drained soil and prefers partially shaded areas.

Highly decorative in pots, Brunnera macrophylla Emerald Mist is also ideal in a wild garden, as a groundcover, in perennial borders or as an edging plant. It creates beautiful compositions when combined with perennial geraniums, narcissus, grasses, and Cimicifuga.
