Linum perenne Diamant - seeds

Linum perenne 'Diamant' is a dwarf selection of the perennial flax whose flowers are white instead of blue. It is an elegant small plant, forming a clump of slender and flexible stems adorned with fine glaucous leaves. Its long and delicate flowering consists of countless small single flowers that renew themselves tirelessly throughout the summer. This plant thrives in sunny, light, rocky, and dry soils. Sow the seeds directly in sunny borders, in light, even poor and dry soil.

The blue perennial flax (Linum perenne) is a plant native to Siberia, Europe, and temperate Asia, belonging to the linaceae family. It is a hardy perennial plant with very fast growth but short-lived. It develops delicate stems adorned with evergreen green-blue foliage in winter, composed of very fine leaves. When in bloom, the 'Diamant' flax forms small bushy clumps that reach a height of 25-30 cm and a width of 20-25 cm. The flowering period extends from June to September, with clusters of small satin-textured white flowers, measuring 2-3 cm in diameter. This plant, often grown as a biennial, self-seeds abundantly in light, sandy, or rocky soil.

They have a somewhat delicate health, which often makes them disappear after a few years, but they easily naturalise. Among German iris, perennial flax lightens up the sword-shaped foliage, fills the space between the stems, and takes over once their flowering is finished. It also performs well in pots. Its elegance pairs well with perennials with grey foliage.
