Description

Mentha asiatica bears upright stems, covered with a woolly greyish down. They produce long dentate leaves, longer than those of M. longifolia, with a more pleasant fragrance, but just as woolly and greyish. The flowers arranged at the top of the stems form light lilac spikes. The flowers lower down in the axils of the leaves are gathered in spherical balls. Its vigorous stump emits short running stolons.

The plant that we had a few years ago under this name, from a botanical garden in the former USSR, is most likely a hybrid between M. aquatica and M. longifolia.
