Description

A Duo of Caucasian rock cress, combining two different varieties. Between April and June, depending on the climate, these small perennials are covered with pink or white flowers, depending on the plants. They form a 15 cm tall, very effective ground cover to fight against weeds. Their tiny evergreen dark green foliage remains attractive in winter and their flowering is delicately scented. Easy to grow and very hardy, in well-drained soil, they are indispensable for covering walls, filling rockeries, and climbing slopes.

The Duo consists of:

- x 2 Arabis caucasica 'Rosea': light pink to carmine pink flowers.

- x 3 Arabis caucasica 'Snowcap' (Schneehaube): particularly floriferous variety, with immaculate white flowers.

Plant in spring or early autumn, in any well-drained soil, even rocky or gravelly, in full sun. Plan for 5 plants per m² for a beautiful covering effect within 3 years. Water regularly to promote establishment. Make sure that neighbouring plants or "weeds" do not disturb their establishment, which is a bit slow even if it proves to be extremely durable.

As rockery plants par excellence, the most robust rock cresses will also make excellent ground covers at the edge of a flower bed, in a flowery pavement, as a topping for a wall, on a slope, at the base of shrubs or hedges. Lovely, as if 'draped' on stones and walls, Arabis caucasica is capable of covering a large area in a few years. It is best to avoid planting it in a well-maintained rockery, where it could harm more delicate plants. Caucasian rock cress pairs perfectly with alyssums, iberis, and other rockery plants that also flower in spring. At the edge of a flower bed, plant some tulips and daffodils that will emerge from their flowery carpets.
