Description

The Prostrate Speedwell or Veronica prostrata Alba is a beautiful, floriferous small perennial which forms a carpet of white flower spikes.

This variety of Speedwell is ground-covering with a cushion-like habit and develops short creeping, branching stems. It has medium green, linear, ovate, toothed leaves, 1 to 3cm (0 to 1in) long. In April, numerous upright 3cm (1in) long spikes composed of small white cup flowers cover the cushion of leaves.

Prostrate Speedwell is originally from the Northern Hemisphere and likes moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and full sun. It also tolerates limestone.

Veronica prostrata Alba can be planted in rockeries, borders or pots with other ground-covering perennials.

Tip: Protect from severe cold and excessive humidity.
