Description

Tulipa 'Flaming Agrass' is a triumph variety that doesn't go unnoticed, with a large flower measuring 7 to 8 cm with a strong contrast, pure white widely flamed with bright yellow. It blooms in April, at the top of a medium stem that withstands wind and rain. Durable in a vase or a flower bed, it is an original and unique variety that is still elegant. Perfect when planted en masse, it should be reserved for full sun.

The 'Flaming Agrass' Tulip belongs to the Liliaceae family. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, whose main characteristic is to have flowers with a narrow cup shape. Tulips in this group are the result of cross-breeding between early single tulips and late single tulips, and they bloom just after the early ones. Perched on 45 cm tall stems, above the widely lanceolate green-blue leaves, the large flowers of this tulip have 6 "petals", or more precisely thick tepals irregularly flamed with bright yellow tones on a white background. Elegant and simple, they have a narrow cup shape measuring approximately 7 to 8 cm in diameter. The flowering of this variety takes place around mid-April, in the heart of the tulip season. The foliage dries up and disappears a few weeks after flowering, when the bulb enters its dormant phase.

The 'Flaming Agrass' tulip finds a place in large flower beds, borders, and pots before adorning vases. In the garden, it can be paired with simple flowers such as forget-me-nots, ipheions, bluebells, and grape hyacinths. This also helps to maximize the duration of flowering in flower beds. Combine it with lady's mantle or with hellebores and euphorbias to create unusual compositions. To enhance the colour of 'Flaming Agrass', pair it with white or yellow flowers such as daffodils that harmonise with its bold flower. When placing it in a vase, use very little water, just a little at the bottom is enough! Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day.

Planting and care

Place the Flaming Agrass tulips in a sunny or partially shaded spot from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in well-drained and deeply loosened soil at a depth of 15 cm, 10 cm apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. They are easy to care for. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the faded flower stalks. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
