The Tomato is a herbaceous liana type plant whose fruits are cultivated as vegetables. The numerous varieties express their differences through their colours, shapes or sizes. Whether they are rare, ancient, cocktail, cherry, 'Marmande' or Roma, all the seeds are sown from February, in a warm greenhouse, along with pepper and eggplant seedlings. Its taste and nutritional qualities need no further demonstration and now its decorative value is also taken into account. Emblematic of summer, its cultivation requires sun and warmth. It is transplanted into open ground in May after the last frosts.
