Our conifers with blue or bluish-grey foliage. These varieties offer a fascinating range of colours. Among the most famous, the Picea pungens 'Glauca Globosa' stands out with its intensely blue foliage and Abies koreana 'Silberlocke' with its magnificent silver reflections and cones of a violet-blue colour. The Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet', with its creeping habit and bright silver-blue foliage, forms superb ground cover. Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca', a majestic Atlas cedar with bluish needles, is a large architectural conifer. Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Alumii', prized for its columnar habit and silver-reflected foliage, is suitable for smaller gardens. Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip' is the bluest of creeping junipers, a conifer that withstands both drought and harsh winters. Pinus parviflora 'Glauca', a dwarf pine with delicately bluish needles, is perfect for rock gardens or small gardens. Among the rarer varieties, Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Blue Moon' is a small sawara cypress that develops into a compact and regular ball with intensely silver-blue foliage, very soft to the touch.
These conifers with blue or grey foliage generally grow well in well-drained, balanced soil and in sunny exposure. Discover them in this selection.
