Les Typha, communément appelés massettes, sont de belles plantes aquatiques de la famille des Typhacées. Les plus répandues sont le Typha latifolia (massette à larges feuilles) et le Typha angustifolia (massette à feuilles étroites). Ces plantes se caractérisent par leurs longues feuilles linéaires et leurs longues inflorescences brunes en forme d'épi. Les Typha possèdent un rhizome souterrain robuste et sont hélophytes, c'est-à-dire qu'elles poussent dans les zones humides et marécageuses.
Pour cultiver ces plantes aquatiques, choisissez un emplacement ensoleillé ou à mi-ombre, avec un sol riche en matière organique et constamment humide. Les Typha peuvent être plantés directement dans l'eau jusqu'à 30 cm de profondeur ou sur les berges. Ils contribuent à la filtration naturelle de l'eau et offrent un abri précieux pour la faune aquatique. Associez les Typha avec d'autres vivaces aquatiques telles que les nénuphars, la pontederia cordata et les iris d'eau.
