Our range of Twisted Hazels. The Twisted Hazel, in Latin Corylus avellana 'Contorta', is a deciduous and unusual ornamental bush due to its uniquely spiralled and twisted branches that offer a unique spectacle in winter. Among the iconic varieties, the Corylus avellana 'Red Majestic' stands out for its purple foliage and red catkins, while the 'Webb’s Prize Cob' is renowned for its generous production of tasty hazelnuts. The cultivar 'Medusa' is even more twisted, its name evoking a nest of snakes gives a good idea of its branching with branches that contort to the extreme. The classic 'Contorta', with its spiralled branches, remains a must-have for enthusiasts of curiosities.
These twisted hazels are resilient and undemanding bushes, transforming the garden into a living and original tableau, season after season.

- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
