Carnations: which are the most fragrant?
the most fragrant varieties
Contents
From April to September depending on the variety, and sometimes until the first frosts, the pink or Dianthus offers a generous and typically highly fragrant flowering. Its flowers release a delicious, intense spicy, peppery, musky scent, very characteristic, reminiscent of cloves. They perfume sunny gardens, terraces and make for lovely bouquets with an exquisite fragrance.
Carnations to grow in the garden or in pots?
Versatile, pinks are equally suited to growing in borders or containers. Low-growing varieties such as Cottage Pinks (Dianthus plumarius), Cheddar Pinks or Dwarf Pinks are perfect for growing in pots or troughs, in light soil, in full sun on patios or balconies. You’ll fully enjoy the sweet fragrance of their beautiful, highly scented flowers.
