Guzmania 'Candy' is a tropical bromeliad that stands out as a highly decorative houseplant. Its bushy bracts emerge cream-white and transform into a beautiful mix of lilac and candy pink. Guzmania 'Candy' is a cultivar from the Bromeliaceae family, selected for its beauty and adaptability to modern interiors. This variety is the result of cross-breeding between different Guzmania species, notably Guzmania lingulata and Guzmania monostachia, native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. These epiphytic species, which grow naturally on trees in humid forests, have passed on to this cultivar its preference for a humid atmosphere. Guzmania 'Candy' captivates with its bicoloured floral bracts that emerge between spring and summer at the centre of an elegant rosette of green, glossy leaves. These bracts, often mistaken for flowers, are actually modified leaves surrounding the true flowers, which are small and short-lived. The plant reaches a height of 45 to 50 cm and a spread of 40 cm at maturity and is easy to care for. It prefers temperatures between 18 and 27 °C. Place it in a bright spot without direct sunlight and ensure a humid atmosphere to replicate its natural conditions.
Guzmania 'Candy' finds its place in contemporary, minimalist, or exotic interiors thanks to its tropical appearance. To enhance this plant, pair it with species featuring contrasting lush foliage, such as Dracaenas or Philodendron 'Brasil', which share similar light and humidity requirements.
