Description
Guzmania 'Filou' is a highly decorative indoor bromeliad. Its bushy bracts beautifully combine a soothing white with purple tips. Paired with its dense, glossy foliage, they bring an exotic touch and vibrant colour to your living spaces. This versatile variety fits perfectly into contemporary, bohemian, or tropical decors. It requires bright, indirect light and good ambient humidity.
Guzmania 'Filou' is a horticultural cultivar from the Bromeliaceae family, selected for its beauty and adaptability to modern interiors. This cultivar results from cross-breeding between different Guzmania species, notably Guzmania lingulata and Guzmania monostachia, native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. Guzmania 'Filou' captivates with its bicoloured floral bracts, blending a creamy white centre with rose-purple tipped edges, emerging from the centre of an elegant rosette of glossy green leaves. These bracts, often mistaken for flowers, are actually modified leaves surrounding the true, small and ephemeral flowers. Easy to care for, it reaches a height of 50 cm with a spread of 40 cm at maturity. The plant prefers temperatures between 18 and 27°C. This Guzmania variety is semelparous, meaning the rosette dies after producing its spectacular inflorescence, but it may form offsets (growing at the base) that allow the plant to regenerate.
Guzmania 'Filou' finds its place in contemporary, minimalist, or exotic interiors thanks to its tropical allure. Pair it with species featuring contrasting lush foliage, such as Dracaenas or Philodendron 'Brasil', which share similar light and humidity requirements.
