Description

Philodendron grazielae is a rare houseplant with charming, small, shiny, heart-shaped leaves. Enthusiasts of tropical greenery will welcome it in Scandinavian, contemporary, or jungle styles to create a refined atmosphere. This compact and easy to care for philodendron is the ideal choice to liven up a corner of the living room or adorn a shelf. Ensure it receives soft, indirect light, and it will quickly become one of your favourite plants!

Philodendron grazielae is a species native to the tropical forests of Peru and Brazil. This small climbing plant was named in honour of the Brazilian botanist Graziela Barroso, who collected the original specimen in the 1960s. It belongs to the Araceae family. It is slow-growing, reaching a height of around 90 cm and a spread of 60 cm indoors, depending on pot size and growing conditions. Its climbing habit requires a stake or support for training. Its thick, vibrant green leaves measure between 4 and 11 cm. Their small, heart-shaped, glossy appearance is truly unique. Although it rarely flowers indoors, very mature plants may produce discreet flowers. In the wild, Philodendron grazielae grows in warm, humid environments, nestled beneath the tree canopy, which explains its need for indirect light and humidity. Like other Philodendrons, it is mildly toxic to humans and animals if ingested, so keep it out of reach of children and pets.

To create a little "jungle" corner, pair Philodendron grazielae with Monstera adansonii and Scindapsus pictus, which share its care requirements. With its climbing habit, this small philodendron is perfect for dressing a high shelf, wall, or wooden stake; it will add dynamism and vertical interest to your décor.

Maintenance and care

Potting advice, substrates and fertilisers

No specific pruning required, but remove damaged leaves to promote healthy growth.

Disease and pest advice
