Description

Philodendron 'Cherry Red' is a houseplant that stands out for its colourful and changing foliage, with an almost "metallic" appearance. Its leaves are an intense cherry red when young and gradually turn green. Adopt this variety in a contemporary or eclectic setting, in the living room or your office. Sought after by plant decor enthusiasts, this "philo" will bring great satisfaction if its growing conditions are met: bright light without direct sunlight, good ambient humidity, and temperatures between 18 and 25°C.

Philodendron 'Cherry Red' belongs to the Araceae family. It is a hybrid cultivar, obtained through horticultural selection, likely derived from Philodendron erubescens (the "blushing philodendron"). This perennial plant has a compact clumping habit, composed of leaves beautifully arranged in a "vase" shape. It typically reaches a height of 40 to 60 cm and a similar spread at maturity. Its heart-shaped, glossy-textured leaves measure about 20 cm long. They emerge in a vibrant red hue, evolving into bronze tones, then green as they mature. The entire plant then presents a lovely multicoloured appearance. The growth of this variety is considered moderate. Indoor flowering is rare and insignificant, with small, greenish flowers. Be aware, all parts of the Philodendron 'Cherry Red' are toxic if ingested, so it is recommended to keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Philodendron 'Cherry Red' adapts to various rooms in the home, such as the living room, office, or bedroom, where it adds a beautiful splash of colour. Pair it with a Nephrolepis exaltata (Boston Fern), with its arching fronds, or with Alocasia 'Polly', with its white-veined leaves, which thrives under the same conditions.
