The Best Perennial Geraniums for Shade
Our favourite varieties
Contents
Hardy geraniums often form large clumps that beautifully dress the base of trees and bushes, adding a splash of colour. The hardy geranium is THE solution for filling a shaded area, adorning it with long-lasting flowering, while requiring minimal maintenance ! While many plants thrive in the sun, hardy geraniums allow you to create a woodland garden or brighten up a shaded bank. They adapt to various situations and can flourish where other plants struggle to grow. Don’t hesitate to plant them alongside ferns, hostas, tricyrtis and comfreys.
Geranium nodosum
Few plants thrive in deep shade, but the Geranium nodosum is an ideal solution for such gardens. It tolerates the shadiest spots, even dry shade! This excellent groundcover boasts glossy foliage and blue or lilac flowers. Moreover, it offers a long flowering period from May to September.
