Description

The collection of 3 essential perennials for full sun combines three plants with strong characters, for a colourful and resilient garden even in the hottest sunshine. The trio ensures a generous flowering from late spring until autumn. These are robust perennial plants, resistant to cold and drought, offering diverse foliage and flowers: purple umbels for the verbena, white, butterfly-like flowers for the gaura, and golden spikes for the stipa. They will add texture and volume to a sunny border or large flowerbed.

The collection consists of 3 young plants:

1 Verbena bonariensis, a tall, undemanding and wandering perennial plant, whose airy flowering in violet, "cloud-like" panicles brings elegance and lightness to companion plants. In flower from late spring until autumn.

1 Gaura lindheimeri White, this wonderful variety combines many qualities. Its round, compact and well-balanced habit is covered from June to September, with exceptional generosity, in pale pink floral buds that open into small, infinitely graceful white flowers, gathered in light spikes that overwhelm very soft grey-green foliage.

1 Stipa tenuifolia, this grass quickly forms an incredible fountain of fresh green 'hair' waving at the slightest breeze, before transforming in early summer into silky, blonde and light tufts.

These perennial plants can be planted in spring or autumn, in well-drained soil and full sun. They adapt to dry conditions. Plant them in a staggered pattern to maximise their visual impact, spacing them 40-50 cm apart. This collection covers an area of about 1 m², forming a bright and elegant flowerbed that will maintain itself easily with little care. These plants can withstand cold temperatures down to -15°C and can therefore remain in place throughout winter.

Planting and care

These perennials should be planted in spring or autumn, in a sunny spot, in any well-prepared and properly drained soil. Mix your garden soil with compost, and add gravel if your soil is very clayey and compact. They adapt equally well to slightly acidic or chalky soils and tolerate summer drought once well-rooted.
