The 'Jonagold' Apple Tree is a variety selected in 1953 at Cornell University in Geneva, USA. It is the result of a cross-breeding between 'Golden Delicious' and 'Jonathan'. It has been commercially available since 1968.

It is highly productive, and thinning is essential at the start of fruiting to prevent small fruit size and the occurrence of diseases. The flowering, in white-pink, occurs in mid-April. The flowering is not sensitive to frost, making the apple tree suitable for cultivation in all regions. Being self-sterile, the presence of apple trees with flowering at the same time is necessary. The varieties 'Starking Delicious', 'Melrose', 'Reine des Reinettes', and 'Ingrid Marie' are the most suitable. Fruiting is early, starting in September, and the fruits can be stored in a cool place (cellar or refrigerator) until January.
