Our Espostoa Collection, fluffy cacti with a woolly appearance, perfect for pot cultivation. Loved for their upright habit and characteristic white hair cover, Espostoa add an exotic and unusual touch to your indoor plant collection. The most famous, the Espostoa lanata or woolly torch cactus forms slender columns covered in a thick white fleece which naturally protects it from the harsh sun of its native Andes. It can reach up to 2 m in greenhouse cultivation but remains much more modest in pots. The Espostoa churinensis native to central Peru stands out with its abundant hairiness and slender, often ramified columnar habit. Over time, it forms beautiful specimens. Less common in cultivation, the Espostoa melanostele develops a darker column with sometimes more visible prickles, wrapped in contrasting white hairs. The Espostoa guentheri cultivar is slightly stockier and develops slightly shorter hair.

All Espostoa require a very bright exposure with maximum direct sunlight, a well-draining substrate (such as cactus soil), and infrequent but regular watering in summer. In winter, keep them dry and cool, between 5 and 12°C, to respect their dormancy period. If possible, move them outdoors during the warmer season.
