Saponaria officinalis 'Graciella White' is a variety of common soapwort with single white flowers that can bloom in the year of sowing. Saponaria officinalis, also known as soapwort or soap herb, is a herbaceous perennial plant in the family Caryophyllaceae, native to Europe and Asia. This wild plant is frequently found in the countryside, along paths, in ditches, and near watercourses. The 'Graciella White' selection stands out for its particularly fast growth. The plant, with running rhizomes, forms dense, slightly loose clumps that spread over time, especially in rich and moist soil. This plant will reach a height of about 60 cm and a minimum width of 50 cm. The upright or slightly prostrate stems bear slightly fragrant white flowers resembling those of phlox gathered in dense clusters above the foliage from July to September. The bright green leaves are arranged opposite on the stem, they are ovate, pointed, and deeply marked by 3 longitudinal veins. The above-ground deciduous vegetation emerges in spring and dries up in autumn.

The 'Graciella White' common soapwort is charming when planted in groups in a natural-looking garden, but it is not suitable for small spaces. It can be grown in a large flower border or a rustic bed with pretty wildflowers such as Goat's Rue, Pyramidal Bellflower, Dame's Rocket... It will also thrive alongside other sturdy plants such as Persicaria, Willowherbs, Veronicastrum... Also, shade stops its growth as surely as a weedkiller.
