This traditional British fork with a beech handle from Spear & Jackson, equipped with a very hard, ergonomic ash handle, and a 4-tine stainless steel blade, is a very durable and high-quality garden tool that will satisfy demanding gardeners who love beautiful tools. It is perfect for working and turning any type of soil, even hard, rocky, and compacted soil, as well as for uprooting and pulling out.

The fork is a versatile tool that complements the spade, designed for digging, loosening, cultivating, and breaking up the soil deeply. It is much better suited than the spade for working on difficult, rocky, clayey, heavy, and compacted soils. It will loosen the soil without turning it over, simply by penetrating the tines. Unlike the spade, this garden tool does not disturb the soil's microbial life and does not cut through earthworms, which are essential for soil health and fertility. It can be used to dig out weeds, as well as certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips), and to divide large clumps of perennial plants. It is also used to uproot and transplant plants, remove stones, and bring up pest larvae.
This model consists of a curved handle made of ash split in a "Y" shape upwards, under the handle, in one piece to minimize the risk of breakage, very hard, lightweight, and resistant to weathering. The metal ferrule protects the handle from wood rot. It accommodates the 4-tine fork with triangular tips, made of stainless steel that is resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion. This stainless steel fork offers less resistance when penetrating the soil. The handle, ending with a typical YD handle of English tools, multiplies the force: the handle allows leverage to drive the head into the ground. The handle of this tool is compostable, and the steel head is recyclable.
