Professional forged steel spade with footrest from Spear & Jackson

Be the first to leave a review
A high-quality professional British spade, particularly sturdy and designed for intensive work. Its blade is made of forged steel, riveted to a handle made of hard wood by a long socket also made of forged steel. The epoxy finish of the metal parts ensures better resistance to shocks and rust, increasing the lifespan of this beautiful tool. The presence of a footrest doubles the user's strength, and its metal and wood YD handle, specific to British tools, allows for excellent grip.

This professional spade from Spear & Jackson, made of forged steel with an epoxy finish, is equipped with a very hard wood handle, a footrest, an ergonomic handle, and a long riveted socket. It is a high-quality garden tool that will satisfy demanding amateurs and professional gardeners. Extremely strong and ergonomic despite its weight, it is perfect for heavy-duty work.

The spade is an essential tool, designed for lifting, turning, loosening and crumbling the soil deeply, in small areas. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertilizer, horse manure...) can be incorporated into the soil as it is turned over. The spade, with its sharp edges, is also used to prepare planting holes, dig, cut roots, or dig up certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). This model consists of a weather-resistant hard wood handle. The socket is a long, two-lipped socket made of forged steel covered with epoxy, securely attached to the handle with rivets. It accommodates the sharpened blade made of a single piece of forged steel, resistant to both shocks and torsion. The epoxy paint provides additional protection against rust, soil oxidizing agents, and scratches. On the right and left of the handle, the spade blade has been hammered and crushed into a step, then grooved, providing a blunt, non-slippery foothold. The handle, ending with a metal handle covered with wood, in the typical YD style of English tools, multiplies the force: it allows you to exert your full weight to drive the head into the soil. This tool is guaranteed for 10 years by the manufacturer.

Spear & Jackson has been selling tools for gardening, agriculture, and landscaping to both professionals and amateurs since 1760! Today, their range reflects this experience by offering innovative, superior quality products adapted to a wide range of uses.
