The 'Mary Anne' Perennial Geranium, like Rozanne, is a particularly floriferous and easy to grow variety. This plant forms a neat mound and produces pretty flowers for several months, with purple flowers veined with dark violet, bright and colourful. The plant, which does not sucker, forms a dome of foliage that spreads more or less as ground cover in sunny borders or even in partially shaded areas of the garden. Versatile and undemanding, it also looks great in pots or hanging baskets, where it creates beautiful decorations for the terrace or balcony.
The 'Mary Anne' Geranium belongs to the geranium family. This variety is part of a series of hybrids called Anne's Family®, selected for their long-lasting flowering, comparable to that of Rozanne, as well as for their low requirements. It is a perennial herbaceous plant with a non-suckering rootstock, whose vegetation persists or disappears in winter depending on the climate. 'Mary Anne' has the same characteristics as Rozanne in terms of vegetation and floral power. It has a semi-creeping habit, forming large bushy cushions at least 40cm in height and 50cm in width. It produces purple flowers with a lighter centre, 3-4cm in diameter, from May-June until October, without interruption. Its stems bear beautifully cut, apple-green leaves.
Why miss out on a ground cover with so many qualities? This perennial geranium Mary Anne grows enthusiastically in full sun or partial shade. It is hardy and can withstand even wet cold down to -20°C. This plant can border a bed or pathway, alongside easy and carefree perennials such as Alchemilla mollis, Nepeta 'Six Hill Giant', pink coneflowers like 'Fatal Attraction'... It will be very useful for filling the base of old shrub roses, giving them summer interest.

Botanical data
To plant your Geranium Mary Anne, work the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, crumble the soil well and add a base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Remove your plant from its pot and position it, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil. Fill in the hole, tamp down, and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. This very hardy variety tolerates a wide range of soils, slightly acidic, neutral, or even heavy and/or calcareous, without drying out excessively. It prefers fertile, light soils that remain moist. Once well established, it does not require watering in the summer in most regions, except in case of prolonged drought.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
