Here is our collection of Crape Myrtle varieties that offer flowers in different shades of redĀ ranging from the flamboyant red of Lagerstroemia indica "Dynamite" to almost purple. In this deciduous bush, the range of reds is extensive, always with a beautiful vivacity: light red, vermilion, scarlet, fuchsia, magenta. Depending on the varieties, these crape myrtles with red flowers can form a small tree capable of reaching 4m (13ft) in height and 3m (10ft) in width, for example in the "Rubra" form. For small gardens and container cultivation the choice is now vast, such as 'Terrasse Rouge' (1.50m (5ft) by 1m (3ft)), or 'Ruby Lace' with crepe-like flowers in a rich garnet red. Of medium size, "Black Solitaire (Black Diamond) Red Hot" combines scarlet flowering with astonishing black chocolate foliage. Young lagerstroemia plants must be protected from the cold. These bushes generally have a bushy habit, growing in clumps, but they can easily be shaped by pruning to form a small tree on a single trunk. In addition to its sumptuous summer flowering, Crape Myrtle offers beautiful autumn foliage and decorative bark.
