Organic farming
This 100% untreated hemp natural mulch is presented in the form of 30 cm (12in) square pieces, which allows for easy and quick installation. This prevents the need for weeding, allows for water savings, increases the temperature at ground level and keeps it clean, promotes life in the soil, all while being 100% biodegradable. It is perfect for mulching bushes and ornamental plants grown in open ground or in containers. Suitable for use in organic farming.

Hemp is a natural mulching solution for the garden or vegetable patch. Presented in the form of a fine felted textile, which is very dense, cut into 30cm (12in) square pieces that are already split, this mulch is easy and quick to put in place around the base of plants. Its 100% natural origin gives it all the advantages of traditional mulching: prevents weeds, saves water, increases surface soil temperature, keeps the soil clean, promotes life in the soil. all while being 100% biodegradable and completely free of chemical substances. It can be used in organic agriculture.

This split slab mulch is particularly suitable for covering and protecting the base of young bushes and ornamental plants grown in open ground either individually or in pots on the terrace. Make sure to staple the slab to the ground or keep it in place with stones once it has been positioned at the base of the plant. The mulch is applied in spring, on carefully prepared, weeded, loosened, and enriched soil. This will allow the soil to warm up more quickly and the plants to root faster. Exclusively composed of long, solid hemp fibres, these square slabs have a density of 1 kg per square metre and are about 6mm (<1in) thick: they completely block out light and retain soil moisture with great efficiency. This mulch decomposes over approximately 18 months depending on climatic conditions, while enriching the soil and improving its structure. Like humus, this vegetal carpet, before and during decomposition, promotes and stimulates microorganisms and insects essential for soil health. It is a material that does not compact the soil and allows air and water to pass through. Protected by mulch, the soil dries out much more slowly, which limits watering and water consumption. Mulch effectively limits the appearance of weeds by depriving the naturally present seeds in the soil of light.

Once the bushes and perennial plants have taken root, the hemp mulch should be replaced with a thicker natural mulch such as hemp flakes, miscanthus, buckwheat husks, flax mulch, wood chips, or leaf mould that will take over.

Detailed features

Directions for use This biodegradable hemp tile mulch is particularly suitable for protecting the base of bushes or plants grown in open ground or in containers. It is applied in spring, on carefully prepared, weeded, loosened and enriched soil. It is a material that does not compact the soil and allows air and water to pass through. Easily place the tile around the base of the plants using the slot provided in the square, then secure it to the ground with staples or by placing a few stones on it. Once the bushes and perennial plants have taken root, the hemp tiles should be replaced with a thicker natural mulch such as hemp flakes, miscanthus, buckwheat husks, flax mulch, wood chips or ramial chipped wood (RCW) which will take over. The hmp mulch, once decomposed, can be composted or buried in the soil.
