Very very small young plants, do not resemble the photo. As soon as they arrived, they were immediately planted... we shall see. The buckets were covered in moss...

Description

Artemisia ludoviciana Valerie Finnis, or Artemisia, is a perennial with a bushy habit that has the particularity of forming a magnificent compact shrub of large silver-grey leaves that spread quite quickly.

Its decorative, deciduous foliage, similar to the Silver Queen variety, is a beautiful silver-grey, but it differs by having longer leaves and a more compact bushy habit.

From June to July, small woolly white panicles with numerous flowers appear. The large flowers measure 10 cm (4in) long. Valerie Finnis artemisia is a very hardy and vigorous plant. Native to California, it can reach 40 cm (16in) in height when fully grown.

Prefer a dry garden in a rockery or sunny bed, or place this white artemisia by the seaside. You can also grow it in a border, hedge, or container. Be careful that it doesn't become too invasive. You can pair Artemisia ludoviciana Silver Queen with plants like Ceratostigma, Papaver orientale, Scabiosa caucasica, as well as lavateras. It is ideal for a white garden.

Planting and care

If you want to grow the Valerie Finnis Artemisia Ludoviciana, ensure it gets plenty of sunlight and is planted in light, neutral, alkaline soil. Heavy soil can harm the plant, and if it's not getting enough sun, it will start leaning towards it. Once it's established, it can handle droughts well. If you want a more compact plant, you can prune it in the spring or autumn by cutting the flower stalks after they bloom. Be careful of aphids because they can harm the plant.
