Our range of Ornamental-Leaf Elms brings together trees with remarkable foliage, to add a touch of elegance and whimsy to the garden. The 'Frontier' elm stands out with its green leaves turning reddish-purple in autumn, a veritable explosion of colour. The Ulmus hollandica ‘Wredei’, on the other hand, displays small golden foliage and a lovely columnar habit. The cultivar ‘Jacqueline Hillier’ is prized for its dentate leaves turning yellow-orange in autumn and its compact, contorted habit, while the Ulmus minor ‘Argenteovariegata’ is a large, bright tree that sports elegant white-variegated foliage. The Ulmus minor 'Viminalis Aurea', or small-leaved golden elm, is a tree with a slender habit and finely cut foliage, golden yellow in spring. Ideal as a specimen plant, it brightens up sunny gardens. Let's also mention the 'Sapporo Autumn Gold' elm which offers superb golden foliage in autumn.
Elms like fertile, well-drained soil, and adapt to sun or partial shade. Some, like the Ulmus ‘Wredei’, even prefer full light to reveal their golden colouration. Planting is ideally done in autumn or spring. Remember to water them regularly during their first year to encourage deep rooting.
