Choosing the planting location

Bletillas are the hardiest of terrestrial orchids. They thrive in full sun in northern France and in partial shade in the south.

In open ground

Plant them in light shade, in a light and fresh compost, with an acidic tendency, at a depth of 5 to 7 cm, spaced 15 to 20 cm apart. In the North region, we grow them in pots that we keep frost-free in winter.

In pot

Container cultivation: Place 3 to 5 bulbs per 20 cm diameter pot, in a mix of 1/3 compost, 1/3 sand, and 1/3 garden soil. After flowering, remove the foliage and place the pots in a frost-free location until spring.
