This charming association of early bulbs welcomed me at the foot of my new flat! The winter aconites or yellow hellebores (Eranthis hyemalis) pair perfectly with the white snowdrops (Galanthus), at the foot of the north gable of the house, where they bring light and bright colours at this late winter... Also notice the evergreen foliage of the heucheras accompanying them, discreetly visible in the background today, but which will take centre stage when the bulbs return to dormancy! This is a scene easy to replicate in any garden, like here at the foot of a wall or under trees, and even naturalised in a lawn! Just plant the bulbs together in autumn... be careful not to delay too much as Eranthis bulbs dry out quickly and should be planted as soon as possible for best results.
