Tulips are among the most cherished bulbs for their beautiful spring flowers. There are numerous varieties, showcasing a range of colours and shapes. Among them, the double late tulips stand out with their generous forms, resembling peonies in full bloom, which is why they are often referred to as Peony-flowered Tulips. They also come in various shades, from pure white to almost black purple, including yellow, red, and orange.

Double Late Tulip Black Hero

The Double Late Tulip ‘Black Héro’ offers a stunning late flowering display in April-May, with double petals in beautiful deep purple tones, almost black. Its lovely colour and reflections change beautifully depending on the light. Its large, very double flowers resemble those of peonies and are supported by sturdy stems that reach 50 cm in height. This robust stem withstands both wind and rain, remaining upright even in a vase. Its medium green leaves are broadly lanceolate. This beautiful tulip will make a statement in a container, a large pot, as an edge, or in a border. To create a lovely contrast, it can be paired with white tulips, such as the ‘White Liberstar’ variety, or with pink flowers like the Double Late Tulip ‘Angelique’.

The late double tulip 'Danceline'

The Late Double Tulip ‘Danceline’ is a beautiful refined variety, which, as its name suggests, blooms late, around May-June. It bears large flowers, pure white or pale pink in colour, very double, with slightly crinkled petals and marked by a delicate small splash of fuchsia pink at the centre of the edge. Sometimes this fuchsia pink splashes more across the flower’s dress. The outer petals are flamed with green-yellow to bright green, further enhancing the freshness of this flower. The 40 cm tall stem of this tulip is sturdy and withstands the elements without flinching. The ‘Danceline’ tulip is ideal for enhancing a pot, a bed, or creating beautiful pastel bouquets. It can be paired with the white and green dress of the ‘Maureen’ variety or the raspberry red of the Late Double Tulip ‘Antraciet’.

The late double tulip 'Pink Star'

The Double late tulip ‘Pink Star’ brings a touch of softness to the garden and containers thanks to its changing dress colour over time. This is a late-flowering variety, blooming in May. This beautiful flower is carried by a short stem, measuring just 35 cm, but it is firm, sturdy, and weather-resistant. The ‘Pink Star’ variety will enhance borders, rockeries, and flower beds, as well as pots and planters. The late double tulip 'Freeman'

The Double Late Tulip ‘Freeman’ brings light and sunshine to borders, pots, and window boxes, thanks to its very double, crumpled flowers in golden yellow, interspersed with ochre, salmon orange, and a hint of pink. On the outside, the petals are flamed with soft green. Rather late, it blooms for a long time around April-May. These large flowers stand tall on sturdy stems, 35 to 40 cm high, resistant to rain and wind. Its good holding makes it a remarkable cut flower. The late double tulip 'Blue Wow'

The Double Late Tulip ‘Blue Wow’ gets its name from its light violet colour, leaning towards blue, the closest shade of blue currently available among tulips. It thus delights gardeners and enthusiasts alike. It blooms late in May, at the end of the tulip season. Its petals are very double and delicately undulate. Its stem is not very tall, but sturdy, reaching 30 to 35 cm in height. Very different yet charming, the ‘Blue Wow’ tulip adds charm and originality in borders, pots, or cut flower arrangements. It pairs beautifully with the pastel pink of the ‘Angélique’ tulip or, conversely, with the dark dress of the ‘Queen of the Night’ tulip.
