Description

The 'Stunning Apricot' Late Single Tulip is a medium-sized variety, particularly resistant to bad weather, including strong winds and hot climates. Its large, poetic flower is a soft, yet prominent coral shade, highlighted with raspberry pink and an apricot border. Its refined cup-shaped flowers are carried on sturdy stems and look wonderful in borders or at the front of flower beds.

The 'Stunning Apricot' Tulip belongs to the Liliaceae family. This superb variety is of horticultural origin. It is currently classified in the 'late singles' group, or Division 5, which is characterised by flowering at the end of the tulip season, in May-June, making them very useful in the garden to accompany the first summer flowers. This stately tulip will reach 50 cm in height when in bloom. Perched on stems well above the lanceolate, grey-green leaves, the flowers are large, thick, elegant and iridescent, and their tone changes with the light. The foliage dries up and disappears a few weeks after flowering, while the bulb goes into dormancy.

The late single tulip 'Stunning Apricot', like all its siblings, has no equal in giving a quaint charm to the garden, with forget-me-nots, daisies, mignonettes, centaureas... It finds a place in large flower beds, with other late tulips, accompanied by perennials such as peonies or pastel-toned wallflowers. The colour of 'Stunning Apricot' delicately complements the flowers of roses and fuchsias. Don't forget foliage plants like lady's mantle whose acidic green enhances the soft and pastel shades beautifully. It can also be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. It is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. In a vase, use very little water, just a little at the bottom is enough! Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day.

Don't forget to consider the height and flowering period when designing your flower beds, as these parameters can vary significantly from one cultivar to another. It is a good idea to plant a few extra bulbs for cutting, as tulips last a long time in a vase.

Planting and care

Plant the 'Stunning Apricot' Tulip bulbs in autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm, spacing them 10 cm apart in ordinary, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining soil. Never add poorly decomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. The Triumph Tulip will thrive in moist to dry soil, in a sunny or lightly shaded location. After flowering, the foliage becomes unsightly and we recommend planting heucheras, tiarelles, brunneras, bleeding hearts, or euphorbias in the foreground of your flower beds, as their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and elegantly conceal their yellowed leaves. Once flowering is finished, remove the seed heads to avoid exhausting the bulb. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
