Spring means return of the sun, flowering of cherry trees, plum trees, daffodils and tulips, but also traditional Easter celebrations! And what could be better than making an original, natural centrepiece yourself using items easily found at home or in the garden? A great way to bring freshness and brighten your table for a family meal or when entertaining friends. Follow our step‑by‑step tutorial to make a spring centrepiece using eggshells (the undisputed star of Easter!), dried flowers and natural decorations gathered from the garden.

Steps to make an Easter centrepiece

1- Take eggshells (ideally keep those used for cooking) and clean them gently with water and soap. Leave them to dry on a clean, dry cloth or on kitchen paper.

2- Once dry, glue the eggshells together carefully, forming a circle.

Tip: if you can’t get the wreath shape right, you can fix the shells directly around a candleholder after applying the paint in step 3.

3- Using a paintbrush, cover the shells with paint. Pastel shades, such as the pink shown here, are often used to brighten an Easter table, but choose colours to suit your taste. Apply as many coats as necessary.

4- Once paint is dry, place some moss (here Spanish moss) or leaves of Helichrysum (curry plant) inside the shells.

5- Add natural decorations: ament of Willow (including the beautiful soft pink aments of Salix 'Mount Aso'), dried flowers (statice, gypsophila, lavender, etc), small quail eggs or even feathers and chocolates for those with a sweet tooth. In short, let your creativity run wild! The aim is to create the impression of a floral wreath with a fresh touch.
