How to proceed

After flowering, your amaryllis may not look very attractive. However, this is the time it needs your care to bloom again. It’s simple if you follow a few rules:

– Cut off the faded flowers and allow the leaves to develop.

– Continue to water regularly and provide indoor plant fertiliser every 15 days. This is when the bulb replenishes itself to prepare for next year’s flowers.

– If spring is sufficiently advanced (night temperature >5° C), you can place your pot in the garden, in a sunny and sheltered spot.

– After 4 to 6 months, even if the leaves are still green, forget about your pots and let them rest for about 3 months in a sheltered place, without light and without watering, in a cool environment: the bulbs need a vegetative rest in cool conditions to be able to bloom again. After this vegetative rest, you can cut off the faded leaves, repot in fresh potting soil, and start a new growing cycle.
