Heucheras are perennial plants used in the garden as decorative groundcovers in shaded areas or woodlands. Thanks to their evergreen or semi-evergreen foliage, they add lovely splashes of colour to borders, beds, and containers. Heuchera 'Mint Frost', silver and marbled

With its silver-grey foliage marbled with acid green, the heuchera ‘Mint Frost’ or ice mint makes an excellent groundcover brightening up shady corners. The foliage is deciduous. Flowering occurs in June and July, producing small clusters of white flowers resembling bells, borne on a stem emerging from the foliage.

The perennial heuchera ‘Mint Frost’ grows up to a height of 40 cm and spreads to a width of 30 cm. Pair it in a border or pot with blue flowers, such as brunnera that blooms in spring.

Heuchera 'Silver Gumdrop', with unique colours

The heuchera ‘Silver Gumdrop’ brings unique colours to the garden with its clump of silver foliage that has metallic blue highlights, which later turns pink and purple. From June to July, it is crowned with floral spikes of bright pink and red, creating an original, colourful plant. This heuchera has evergreen foliage, making it a durable decorative groundcover.

It grows up to a height of 40 cm and spreads to a width of 50 cm at ripeness. Hardy, it can be planted in full sun or partial shade. Pair it with other heucheras with silver foliage to create a harmonious colour scheme. You can also insert it into a border next to ferns, ornamental grasses, and hostas for a slightly wild atmosphere, or place it near blue-flowering bulbs.

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls', with shades of grey and purple

The heuchera ‘Silver Scrolls’ remains decorative all year round with its colourful evergreen foliage in various shades of silver, marbled with rosy purple. The undersides of the highly decorative leaves are purplish red. In June and July, small flowers appear, adding a touch of lightness to the plant and its neighbours. They start off pink before turning a rosy white.

The heuchera ‘Silver Scrolls’ forms a plant 40 cm high and 40 cm wide. It poetically and originally adorns a garden or container. In a bed, border, or rockery, plant it at the base of roses or combine it with blue or pink flowers, which will be highlighted by the metallic reflections of its foliage.

Heuchera 'Sugar Plum', silver and purple

The heuchera ‘Sugar Plum’ features silver foliage heavily veined with purple, especially in summer and winter. The leaves are evergreen and have a purplish-red underside, which is also very decorative. Stems, also purple, grow above the foliage from May to August and are adorned with silver-pink bell-shaped flowers that turn white.

The plant reaches a height of 40 cm with a spread of 35 cm. Use it as groundcover along a path or pair it with golden-foliaged plants like Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ and Carex elata ‘Aurea’ to create contrast. It also pairs well with blue-flowering plants, such as forget-me-nots, aquilegias, and campanulas.

Heuchera ‘Sugar Plum’

Heuchera 'Prince of Silver', an elegant contrast

With its silver and purple foliage, the heuchera ‘Prince of Silver’ adds a metallic touch to the garden and containers. The grey leaves are veined with purple-grey and display a dark burgundy underside that is almost violet. This elegant colour contrast is enhanced, from May to July, by a subtle flowering of cream-pink flowers.

The heuchera ‘Prince of Silver’ reaches a height of 35 cm at ripeness and 30 cm wide. Use it as a groundcover in rockeries and borders, and pair it with other heucheras with purple foliage to create shades. You can also plant it alongside spring bulbs, such as tulips, muscari, and hyacinths.

Heuchera ‘Prince of Silver’

Heuchera 'Sloeberry', a bushy foliage

The heuchera ‘Sloeberry’ features dense, silver foliage, lightly veined with purple in spring, darkening in autumn. In winter, the leaves turn purple. The leaves are veined with a purplish-red underside. In June and July, stems rise bearing small pale pink then white bells.

The heuchera ‘Sloeberry’ reaches 50 cm with its flower spikes and spreads to a width of 40 cm. It can be planted in full sun or partial shade. In a woodland border, pair it with ferns, carex, and colourful pink or blue bulbs. In a sunny rockery, plant it alongside a Ceratostigma plumbaginoides, with its small bright blue flowers and beautiful autumn foliage.
