Persimmons, also known as kaki trees, are fruit trees with delicious, vitamin-rich fruits. Originating in the Far East, these trees are grown worldwide. They are valued for their hardiness and the delicacy of their fruits. They bear sweet, orange, fleshy fruits that resemble tomatoes. They have excellent nutritional qualities as they are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, calcium, magnesium, among others. The trees are also very decorative, with autumn colours and fruits that stay on the branches for a long time. Persimmon trees prefer shelter from the wind, deep, cool soil and a long, hot summer to reach ripeness. They are best planted in the southern regions. There are many persimmon varieties, each with its own characteristics in terms of taste, texture and cold resistance. Discover our selection of the best persimmon varieties to plant in your garden.
