Hydrangea Fertiliser is a mineral fertiliser enriched with magnesium designed to meet the nutritional needs of hydrangeas, azaleas, rhododendrons, and other acid-loving shrubs. It promotes the harmonious growth of plants and ensures a bountiful and colourful flowering. It comes ready to use in easy-to-spread granules. Packaged in a 1 Kg mini-pack, this fertiliser is particularly suitable for small gardens, as well as hydrangeas grown in pots on the terrace or balcony.

Most hydrangeas, as well as all acid-loving bushes, are planted in non-chalky, neutral to acidic soils depending on the species and varieties. Peat soil (sometimes mixed with potting soil) is commonly used to cultivate them, but it is a substrate that is very poor in nutrients and needs to be regularly fertilised to meet the needs of these plants. This is especially true when the bushes are grown in pots.

This hydrangea fertiliser is not derived from organic matter from living organisms but from inert mineral matter such as certain rocks. It contains nutrients that are easily and quickly assimilated by the plant roots. Its formulation is NPK 10-10-17 + 3 MgO. This means that it is composed of:

  • 10% Nitrogen (N): this element contributes to the development of non-reproductive above-ground parts of the plant, especially the leaves and stems.
  • 10% Phosphorus (P), which strengthens plant resistance and contributes to root development.
  • 17% Potassium (K): essential for good yields, it promotes flowering and fruit development.
  • 3% Magnesia or magnesium oxide (MgO): this trace element promotes the assimilation of nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur. It also intensifies the colour of flowers and foliage, as well as the taste quality of fruits and vegetables.

Uses: from March to October, at planting and for maintenance (March, May, and September)

Incorporate into the planting soil. For regular maintenance: spread the fertiliser in the evening so that the granules absorb moisture overnight and quickly dissolve. Lightly water the next morning to fully dissolve the product and allow it to penetrate the roots.

Dosage: planting: 50 g/plant - maintenance in March, May, and September: 50 to 75 g/m², equivalent to 4 plants.

Plants need water, about twenty essential nutrients that they find in mineral form in the soil, carbon dioxide (CO2) present in the air, and solar energy essential for photosynthesis to live and multiply. The basic elements, called macronutrients, are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). They must be present in the soil in significant quantities. The secondary elements, less predominant but still essential, are calcium (Ca), sulfur (S), and magnesium (Mg). Finally, the trace elements, necessary in very small quantities, include iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), copper (Cu), boron (B), zinc (Zn), chlorine (Cl), sodium (Na), cobalt (Co), vanadium (V), and silicon (Si). The role of fertiliser is to compensate for soil deficiencies and provide, through optimal dosage, the elements that promote plant growth, flowering and fruit production, as well as root, bulb, and tuber development.
