Clay balls are lightweight, stable, recyclable, and have a long lifespan. They can be used as mulch to prevent the growth of weeds, reduce evaporation, and protect plants from frost. Clay balls are porous and store water and release it to the plants. Used at the bottom of pots or mixed with soil, they also have excellent drainage qualities.

Masso Garden's fine clay balls are made of expanded clay, lightweight, stable, recyclable, and have a long lifespan. They can be used as mulch on a well-weeded soil to prevent weed growth, reduce water evaporation, and protect plants from frost. Their main advantage is their porosity: clay balls absorb water, creating a necessary or even essential humid environment for certain plants such as bromeliads or orchids by releasing the stored moisture. Clay balls help keep plants healthy: used at the bottom of perforated pots or mixed with potting soil, they provide excellent drainage qualities, preventing water from stagnating and drowning the roots, which could cause them to rot. They can even be used for hydroponic cultivation (soilless). This is a naturally occurring mineral product, with a terracotta colour that enhances all foliage.

Tips

Main uses Spread the clay balls on well-weeded soil, to a thickness of 2 to 3 cm. Use this mulch at the base of your garden plants or potted plants. Once installed, it requires no maintenance and withstands bad weather perfectly. It will remain in place for many years. Do not overwater once the mulch is in place, as water evaporation becomes less important. You can also mix clay balls (up to 10%) with the soil in the planting hole for bushes or plants that cannot tolerate stagnant water at the root level. In pots: use containers with drainage holes. Place a layer of clay balls 2 to 5 cm thick at the bottom of your pots, planters, or containers, depending on their volume. Cover with potting soil and place your plant.
