These ready-to-use plugs, composed of compost and perlite, are ideal for sowing or propagating plants, as they provide a suitable environment for germination and the development of young roots. They are surrounded by a non-woven fabric that allows roots to penetrate. Fertiss only requires a single watering before use, and it is not necessary to disturb the plugs when repotting or transplanting.

These Fertiss plugs, ready to use, are highly recommended by professionals for sowing, propagation by cuttings, and even in vitro culture. They are small plugs made of turf and perlite, surrounded by a non-woven veil. This growing medium promotes the development of delicate first roots, and the non-woven allows them to penetrate its very fine mesh. At this stage, the young plant is ready to be transplanted into a larger pot to strengthen it before eventual planting in the ground. Unlike dehydrated tablets, Fertiss is a fresh product that only requires simple watering before use. And there is no need to remove the plugs when repotting or planting.

Fertiss culture plugs offer many advantages: ready to use, easy to store, they allow for early sowing of plants in greenhouses or indoors, which is very useful when multiplying or growing vegetables or flowers with slow growth. They are also particularly well-suited for plants with delicate roots that do not tolerate manipulation and transplantation well. Composed of blonde peat and perlite, the growing medium reduces planting stress compared to more artificial substrates. With its natural flora, peat is less vulnerable to colonization by soil pathogens. It contains certain additives, but no conventional NPK fertilization. Additional fertilization should be added either immediately for demanding plants (petunia) or when the first roots appear.

Product advantages:

  • Very easy transplanting: FERTISS has a consistency that allows for easy insertion and good holding of cuttings. The absence of pre-drilling prevents the formation of an air pocket at the base of the cutting, which can hinder the formation of callus that produces the first roots.
  • Very rapid rooting: the ideal balance between air content, water retention, and adhesion between the growing medium and the plant allows for very rapid rooting. The plants can be transplanted as soon as the first roots have pierced the non-woven.
  • Unmatched success rates: FERTISS allows for 100% success in most cases, with very homogeneous crops.
  • Advantages of aerial cernage: air circulates easily around Fertiss plugs. When the roots have penetrated the non-woven, their longitudinal growth stops. Secondary roots and root buds develop. This phenomenon is called aerial cernage. It minimizes root deformations and improves subsequent recovery.
  • Very rapid repotting: the geometry and holding of the plugs facilitate repotting. The quality of the root system leads to rapid recovery.

  • For professional use: there are trays for storage and transport, some of which are even suitable for robotic transplanting. FERTISS plugs are arranged in standardized trays (Danish, European, US) that fit perfectly with the shipment of young plants in cardboard or rolls.

Usage:

Sow one seed per plug if possible. Use tweezers for very fine seeds, or place a tiny pinch of seeds that you will thin out once the seedlings have emerged. This technique is suitable for multiplying all plants suitable for plug production. It can be used for sowing flowers or vegetables, as well as for small cuttings. As soon as the rootlets appear through the filament, you can repot or plant everything directly in the ground, which facilitates recovery.

Note: FERTISS plugs are available in a wide variety of sizes and presentations. They can be delivered without trays, packed in cardboard boxes. They are most commonly used already arranged in a tray specially designed for each plug size, with a choice of different densities and tray formats.
