An epine or fruit and flower secateur particularly robust and corrosion-resistant due to its stainless steel blades. It is a lightweight cutting tool, easy to handle thanks to its solid and comfortable handles, with a very fine cutting head that allows for easy and precise access to thin stems hidden in vegetation. It will be perfect for picking fruits, flowers and vegetables, for harvesting, as well as for all pruning work that requires precision. Length 19 cm (8in) and locking strap for added safety. Like all its stainless steel tools approved by the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society), this secateur is guaranteed for life by Burgon & Ball.

This Burgon & Ball fruit and flower pruner, also known as a fruit secateur or snips, is a sturdy cutting tool designed for precision work. Its sharp and fine cutting head allows the gardener to easily and precisely access thin stems hidden in vegetation, and its two straight, pointed blades cleanly cut the green stems of flowers and the delicate petioles that bear fruits or vegetables. This model has a comfortable non-slip coating for a good grip, as well as a closure strap to safely store the pruner in your pocket. Both robust and easy to handle, it will be perfect for all fruit, flower, and vegetable picking, for harvesting, as well as for all pruning work that requires precision.

The pruner is an essential tool that every gardener must have, whether they have to maintain a small balcony, a terrace, a small city garden, a large country garden, or an orchard. The fruit and flower pruner is composed of two movable straight blades that slide against each other when the handles of the tool are squeezed. It works like a pair of scissors. This fully metal model measures 19 cm (8in) long. It allows you to prune green or living stems and branches measuring up to 1cm (<1in) in diameter.

The English have the privilege of being the reference in gardening (especially when it comes to lawns and flower picking!). Promesses de fleurs has chosen the English company Burgon & Ball for the quality of its materials and its almost three-century-old steel manufacturing methods. The company has been working with steel in Sheffield since 1730, starting with a patent for solid steel sheep shears. The production of garden shears and equipment quickly surpassed that of sheep shears, but the stainless steel tools from Burgon & Ball are officially approved by the Royal Horticultural Society - probably the ultimate reward in gardening.

The steel used for Burgon & Ball tools is enriched with carbon to give it strength, and with chrome to prevent rust. It is a very precise balance that needs to be found between chrome and carbon, which is different for each part of the tool. The heat treatment allows for precisely the right hardness of steel for each tool. Too hard and the metal can break or chip, not hard enough and it will bend or lose its sharpness. The thickness of the steel used also depends on the tool. The thickness of the steel affects the weight, so it is also a balance to be found, which the company Burgon & Ball, with its almost 300 years of experience, has done to ensure that its tools are both effective and pleasant to use.

Detailed features

Directions for use This pruner is used to cut green or live stems and branches measuring up to 1cm (<1in) thick. It is a small pruning tool that is perfect for harvesting fruits, flowers, and vegetables, as well as for any small pruning tasks that require precision. Clean the blades with alcohol after use to disinfect them and prevent the spread of diseases. This action also helps to keep them in good condition (the sap from some plants can attack the blades of the secateurs or make them sticky). Store this tool protected from bad weather, in a dry place.
