Description

Teucrium lucidrys is a perennial low shrub, very spreading with ovate, evergreen, dark green, shiny and dentate leaves resembling tiny oak leaves.

The pink lilac flowers form long clusters along the erect branches, blooming for over 4 months, from June to September.

Plant Teucrium lucidrys in full sun, in a well-drained and calcareous soil. This small groundcover will grow on slopes, in a rock garden or on a wall from which it will cascade down.

Planting and care

Teucrium lucidrys likes dry soils, even limestone ones, but will also grow in any good garden soil as long as it does not retain water, especially in winter. With very few exceptions, these beautiful perennial plants, which are very floriferous, prefer rather dry, rocky and poor soils, including limestone, which are well drained, and in full sun. In heavy soils, they can be cultivated on a slope, on a wall or in a rockery.
