This plant label is handcrafted in Brittany, using natural chestnut wood. This rectangular model is perforated in the middle on one side, allowing a tie or label holder to be attached. Decorative elements are also beneficial for remembering the names of each plant in the garden, greenhouse, terrace, or vegetable garden while adding an elegant touch to the plantings.
Seed packets, as well as printed bands and labels provided when purchasing plants, often deteriorate quickly under the combined action of sun and rain, with the plants' names becoming illegible. On the other hand, these labels distributed by Comptoir Botanique, made of chestnut wood, are known for their hardness and natural resistance to wood-boring insects and better withstand heat and bad weather. This model measures 10.5cm (4in) in length by 7.5cm (3in) in width and comes in the form of a thin brown wooden plaque randomly traversed by darker veins. The plant's name, information, or message can be written on it using a felt-tip pen or graphite pencil before placing it. It is then sufficient to pass a thread through the hole provided to hang it or put it on a beautiful metal or bamboo label holder that will be planted wisely. Chestnut wood is an environmentally friendly material and is compostable.
The company Comptoir Botanique, located in Locquenolé in northern Finistère, has been collaborating with ESAT (Establishments and Service for Assistance through Work) for several years and entrusts more than 80% of its production to them.
Garden labels are valuable accessories that can be elegant or charming to enhance plants and gardens. In the vegetable garden, it is essential to identify the sowings of lettuces, radishes, or carrots and the varieties of melons or squash. In the ornamental garden, some perennials or bulbs disappear underground for a good part of the year and may disappear under an unfortunate blow of a spade or pickaxe if they have not been marked. The collector of irises or grasses will appreciate remembering the names of the beautiful varieties he has planted. The enthusiast of rare plants for which there is no common name can proudly present the Latin name of his latest acquisition to his amazed visitors thanks to the label that comes to the aid of his memory. The natural wooden label always has little effect, whether suspended in the garden, pot, flower box, or basket of plants and flowers. Lastly, naming a plant is an excellent way to awaken children's interest in nature and its diversity.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
