With their spectacular white or pink spring flowering and their great ease of cultivation, Deutzias are highly valued in the garden. The larger varieties of Deutzia can reach up to 3 m in height and 2 m in spread. With a rapid growth rate, these hardy and accommodating deciduous bushes are essential for brightening up slightly dark free-flowing and flowering hedges alongside other spring-flowering shrubs or those with staggered flowering.
Simple yet very robust, they fit well in all gardens, provided their flowering is protected from scorching sun and strong winds. To keep them looking beautiful and well-flowered, a simple pruning after flowering will help maintain their lovely bushy shape.

Deutzia hybrida 'Mont Rose', vigorous and remarkable
The Deutzia hybrida ‘Mont Rose’ is a vigorous hybrid deutzia that quickly reaches up to 3 m in height and 2 m in width at maturity. It is distinguished by its bushy, rounded silhouette, with flowering branches that cascade down to the ground. It is adorned with lanceolate, veined leaves. Dark green on the upper side and light green underneath, they create a lush backdrop for its delicate flowering.
In June and July, this deutzia, awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society, is adorned with clusters of star-shaped flowers that are pink at first, turning white as they mature.
Robust and floriferous, it is ideal for brightening up your informal hedges when mixed with other flowering bushes such as Kolkwitzia, weigelias, or Abelia. Deutzia x magnifica, ample and romantic
The Deutzia magnifica is another large-growing variety, spectacular in a free-flowing, flowering hedge. It is a very beautiful hybrid species obtained in the early 20th century. This is a bush of fine stature and fairly rapid growth, with vigorous foliage. This lovely improvement of two species of deutzias native to China and Japan reaches an average height of 2.50 m and a spread of 2 m. As is often the case with deutzias, the silhouette arches over time.
Its deciduous and pubescent foliage, a matte green in spring, takes on golden hues in autumn before falling. In May-June, often until July, it literally disappears under an avalanche of flower bouquets. It takes on the appearance of a white cloud, which is why deutzia is nicknamed “Spring Snow.”
For three weeks, it offers a multitude of paniculate clusters of drooping bell-shaped flowers. Each double flower, measuring 8 cm across, is composed of numerous pure white petals, slightly washed with pink, revealing prominent golden-yellow stamens.
This hybrid deutzia is well-suited for creating large flowering hedges, whether trimmed or not, in a romantic and wild garden. Its flexible and natural habit allows it to be planted in a flowering hedge alongside kolkwitzia, mock oranges, Syringa vulgaris such as ‘Belle de Moscou’, and buddleias or shrub roses, which will take over the flowering.
