Fast delivery, very beautiful Deutzia and Kolkwitzia plants. Not damaged, super well packaged, but the perennial pots, although packed in a separate box, were all uprooted. I had the impression that they had been transferred from a 7 cm (3in) pot to an 8-9 cm (3-4in) pot very recently, so the roots, which were beautiful by the way, hadn't had time to colonize the new pots. I put everything back in the pots and I hope the achilleas, asters, and 3 Rubeckias will survive, as they had good roots in the 7 cm (3in) pots. Everything will hopefully become beautiful by summer. I also want to take this opportunity to tell you that your website is very well done and very enjoyable to consult for garden lovers.

Description

Deutzia x magnifica is appreciated for its rapid growth, ease of cultivation, and spectacular spring flowering. From May to June, this bush is covered with small bunches of pure white bell-shaped double flowers. Its deciduous foliage is a very bright light green. Not demanding in terms of soil and perfectly hardy, it suits a cottage garden or simply a romantic and wild garden.

Deutzia x magnifica is a relatively old hybrid species, obtained by Lemoine in the early 20th century. It is believed to be a cross between Deutzia. scabra and D. vilmorinae (or D. discolor), two species native to China and Japan. Deutzia x magnifica forms a large bush with an upright habit in its early years, which widens with age. Its flexible branches slightly arch at their tips. Its bark, cinnamon in colour, peels off in adulthood. Growing rapidly, it reaches an average height of 2.5 m (8.2 ft) and a spread of 2 m (6.6 ft). The abundant flowering often starts in May and lasts a good part of June, almost hiding the foliage under drooping and double panicles of flowers. They are pure white, sometimes slightly tinged with pink. Its deciduous leaves are a fairly light matte green, pubescent, and rough. The elongated oval to lanceolate leaves measure up to 10 cm (3.9 in) in length and have toothed edges.

Deutzia x magnifica, just like its ancestors, is very hardy, but it cannot tolerate drought and shallow soils. Protect its beautiful flowers from scorching sun and strong winds. This stunning bush works well as a standalone specimen in a small garden. Alternatively, use it to create a free, flowering, or mixed hedge, alongside other flowering shrubs with staggered blooming such as landscape roses, buddleias, lilacs, mock oranges, spireas, flowering crab apples, or other hawthorns. It also forms beautiful combinations with evergreen foliage such as conifers, Elaeagnus ebbingei, Photinia, and Mexican orange trees.
