Description

Carex atrata, also known as black alpine sedge, is a small grassy-stemmed plant with sheathing, evergreen leaves in a lovely fresh green colour. The short blackish spikes are carried by thin and flexible stems, and make a beautiful contrast with the foliage. Easy to grow in any moist to wet, porous and well-drained soil. It does not like marshy conditions.

With 1000 species of sedges growing worldwide, you are sure to find one suitable for your garden.
